All that’s required is a small investment. An investment that will likely be one of many that will increase in value until there is no more to give, right before the investment disappears.
Gone, lost, just disappeared. Forever.
Yet, it all seemed real. You were presented with a chance to withdraw winnings at the start, the professional look and feel and a continuous increase in profit on each investment was real. The warning signs were never obvious, nor were you suspicious of the person that introduced you to the scheme. But somehow they made sure you gave them every penny you had.
But why did they encourage you? Why you, why were you so special? Was it all a scam? The answer is usually yes. As soon as you answered the call to invest, you were hooked and the scammer was not letting you go. Big promises, high returns, excitement – it was all part of the scam to take your money from you.
Yet it can be prevented. It can be ignored and it can certainly be spotted, but only if you take a moment to pause and ask questions. What’s really happening, how did this all start, why are they helping me? Why should I trust them?
These are just some of the questions that can be asked when you take a moment to pause. Yet there are many more.
By, pausing, you give yourself the chance to think. Thinking leads to better understanding. And when you understand, you then have more chance of making the decisions that feel best for you – not the scammer often hidden behind a fake loving, helpful persona.
It’s your money, your life, your future, your hopes, and dreams. If you wouldn’t trust it all with a stranger in the street, why trust someone online that you’ve never met in person.
Losing everything is possible, but it’s also possible to save it all. Don’t rush, instead take a minute to pause. Ignore the temptation and replace it with lots of questions. Simple actions than can save you from a future disaster and a situation where you have lost everything, borrowed much more than you can ever repay, all whilst family and friends have moved on.
The next time you are contacted by a stranger, without warning, without ever asking; listen to the voice inside your head. Is it saying something doesn’t feel right?
